During Women’s History Month, we celebrate women who choose courage over comfort — women who open doors not just for themselves, but for the generations coming behind them. I’m honored to say I had the opportunity to do just that when the Glow Collection by Jacquie ooh became the first Black woman-owned business carried at Tarrytown Pharmacy in Austin.
For two beautiful years, the Glow Collection sat proudly on those shelves. That moment meant more than a retail placement it was representation. It was progress. It was proof. While we are no longer on the shelves today, the impact of that milestone still glows.
My journey into skincare started with heart. What began as supporting my daughters’ entrepreneurial dreams blossomed into a wellness-centered brand for women because I truly believe we have to think well to live well. The Glow Collection was created with intention: all-natural products designed to nourish your skin while reminding you that self-care is not a luxury it’s a lifestyle.
Being featured at Tarrytown Pharmacy wasn’t just business. It was visibility in a space where Black women-owned brands are not always represented. It was affirmation that excellence, authenticity, and purpose make room at the table. Those two years represented growth, connection with the Austin community, and another reminder that purpose-driven brands belong in every room and on every shelf.
Women’s History Month isn’t only about how long you’ve been somewhere. It’s about the courage to be first. It’s about forward movement. It’s about glow.
And I believe this with my whole heart
when one woman glows, she gives every other woman permission to shine.
